The CILT’s Second Annual Rail Conference builds on the success of last year’s conference. One year on from the publication of Network’s Rail’s Business Plan and substantial challenges still remain around governance, funding and delivery. Rising oil prices present an opportunity for the rail industry to expand its modal share but are the current proposed capacity enhancements enough to keep pace with demand and is there the funding available to deliver.

Key issues to be discussed:

  • The Government's vision for the future of rail
  • Network Rail's business plans for the new control period
  • What are the lessons of HLOS for CP 5?
  • Taking forward the Strategic Business Plan
  • Increasing capacity - achieving more, faster
  • Where is open access going?
  • Further strengthening Network Rail, ORR and the TOC's relationships
  • Regulation - lighter touch or greater involvement?
  • Investing in new lines and the prospects for new high speed services
